When people strive to achieve greatness in one area of their lives, they often make many sacrifices in other parts of their well-being. What happens then, when they can no longer do that one thing - whether it is a career, a relationship or elite sports? Often an identity crisis ensues and depression is not uncommon. In this conversation, we talk with elite athletes and people who support professional athletes about their experience with depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction and even suicidal thoughts. Participants will be able to: - Describe the unique stressors of our elite athletes and how they add to mental and emotional strain. - Identify key protective factors and buffers that help people achieve greatness without sacrificing well-being. - Bridge the lessons learned from elite athletes to other intensive goal setting experiences across the life span.
