(Part 1) Youth Mental Health First Aid | Boise, ID

This training takes places Monday, Sept. 26 from 4:30 - 8:30 pm, and will resume on Wednesday, Sept. 28 from 4:30 - 8:30 pm. You must attend both sessions to become a certified first aider. There will be no training on Tuesday, Sept. 27. 

Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.

The course is limited to a maximum of 30 and minimum of 10 first aiders. First Aiders will receive a YMHFA manual. Cost is free. The approximate cost for a two hour CPR certification course ranges from $25-60. The approximate cost for 7-8 hour children's first aid course is $150-200. The approximate cost for the eight hour YMHFA training is $170. If you are able to make a donation, please click HERE.
